Explora Deluxe Programs

The real discovery trip not only aims at seeing new places, but at looking with new eyes. -- M. Proust

Pamper yourself staying at the unique Explora hotels in Atacama, Patagonia or Easter Island. You will enjoy daily tours and activities at each lodge, guided by experienced guides, and enjoy fantastic local meals and Chilean wines. You may choose from programs that include one, two or all three Explora hotels. Trek the desert oasis of San Pedro de Atacama, or travel to remote Easter Island and Patagonia.

Explora’s food is based on the simple details of quality and incorporates local products. Food is an essential part of Chilean culture. At Explora, it is equally important to have the appropriate food not only at the lodge, but also while enjoying an exploration. During the latter, no matter how remote the location, Explora’s staff will always surprise you. In addition, guests and staff alike, frequently organize at the Quincho (traditional barbecue area) outdoor food activities where guests, staff and locals find a good reason to get together. Wines are brought from different vineyards belonging to sister- companies, namely: Viña Gracia, Viña Porta, Viña Agustinos and Viña Veranda. For those looking to explore deeper into Chile’s wine alternatives, Explora has designed a premium selection list.

Atacama Explora

The Hotel de Larache in San Pedro de Atacama, set in the midst of a desert oasis, offers a great opportunity for daily treks to volcanoes, salt flats and hot springs. At the Hotel de Larache, the 52 refined rooms, 335 square feet each, include Jacuzzi and a comfortable sitting area. Every room has unique wood on the ceiling and tile accents on the floor, fabulous linens, custom-designed furniture and spectacular views. Explora believes that their rooms should provide, above all, the necessary comfort to relax and be ready for the daily explorations. Therefore, beds and pillows are superb, the silence at night is a must and water is so abundant that you can hardly believe you are in a desert.

Patagonia Explora

Patagonia is a vast region in the southernmost tip of South America. Civilizations with magical rites, sailors and pioneers have contributed to its fame. It is a mythical place, synonymous with exploration.

Explora’s Hotel Salto Chico in Patagonia, strategically set on the shore of Lake Pehoe, was conceived as an exploration base site. With unusually shaped granite peaks, glaciers, lakes and waterfalls, plus unique flora and fauna, Patagonia is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The nearby Casa de Baños del Ona features an indoor heated pool, exercise machines, sauna, massage room and open-air Jacuzzis.

Easter Island Explora

Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, has retained an aura of mystery and fascination ever since its discovery by a Dutch explorer in 1722. With its location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and home to a culture whose origins and evolution are still largely unknown, Easter Island is an attractive and mysterious destination. A mild year-round climate allows for walking the island’s geography and traveling along the coast of numerous ahus that are home to the gigantic sculptures called moai.

Who, when and why were these sculptures created? It is a mystery. It is presumed that the island has been inhabited since the earliest centuries of our times, and the moai are hundreds of years old.

A stay at the unique Posada de Mike Rapu will be the perfect base for discovering the breathtaking stone statues, or Moais, thought to be the tombs of ancient kings.

The hotel is located on a hill in the Te Miro Oone sector, on almost 24 acres of land that faces the sea. The hotel is situated in the southwestern zone of the island, 3.5 miles from Hanga Roa – the only town on the island – and it acts as a base for exploring this attractive and mysterious island, home to a culture whose origins and evolution remain unexplained.

Volcanic rock, native to the island and always used by the island’s inhabitants in construction, and wood from the mainland are the principal materials. The hotel has 30 guestrooms that spread out from central areas that house reception, living areas, a bar, kitchen and services. Next to the common areas is the Casa de Baños Hare Vai, with a pool, massage salon and open-air Jacuzzis.
